HYDROPOWER

Hydropower systems use the kinetic energy in flowing water to produce electricity. Currently there are more than 60 operating hydropower facilities throughout Colorado with a combined installed capacity of 1,150 MW. The Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA) has repeatedly recognized the state’s substantial untapped capacity for additional hydropower development.

Water Horse pipeline’s approximate 3,000-foot elevation drop from its highest point to points of use will create substantial opportunity in-pipe renewable energy/hydropower.
