Clean Energy

Hydropower systems use the kinetic energy in flowing water to produce electricity or mechanical energy. Currently there are over 60 operating hydropower facilities throughout Colorado with a combined installed capacity of 1,150 MW. According to the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA), the state has substantial untapped capacity for hydropower development.

The GRSSHPR Project seeks to provide 15 megawatts of in-pipe hydropower and 500+ megawatts of pumped storage across Colorado's Front Range.

A net 3,800-foot elevation drop from the project’s point of diversion to the project’s points of use will create substantial in-pipe renewable energy/hydropower.
