"Water Horse Resources has the leadership, expertise, and partners needed to bring this innovative but critical infrastructure project to completion.”
Aaron P. Million
Aaron P. Million is the principal visionary and architect behind one of the largest water supply and renewable energy projects in the Western US. His extensive background in agriculture, natural resources, conservation, and land use gives him a unique perspective on water use in the West.
Aaron’s diverse experience ranges from conservation to mining, water supply to stream restoration, and timber harvesting to protective easements. He is currently working toward a Ph.D. at Colorado State University, Department of Natural Resources and Ecosystem Science, in water resource conservation. He received a Master of Science degree in 2012 from Colorado State University in Agricultural and Resource Economics with a focus on Environmental Economics.
As an entrepreneur, Aaron founded and served as the President of various companies that were involved in agricultural management, water resources, timber management, mining, and real estate. As Managing Partner of Million Agricultural Investments, he acquired, developed, and operated several thousand acres of farming, ranching, and water interests. Related companies were involved in permitting and operating mining projects, managing timber harvesting including cat, helio-copter and long-line logging, rail spur/rail transportation operations, and developing commercial real estate holdings, including hotels and complex land assemblages.
Aaron led one of the largest agricultural management, consulting, and appraisal companies in the western U.S. Clients included the Disney family, the famous King Ranch in Texas, and various institutional and corporate investors. He has served as a fiduciary for federal courts and been retained as an expert witness in proceedings related to agricultural lands and water rights. Early in his career, he worked as an Agricultural Management Specialist managing farm and ranch properties ranging from several hundred acres of irrigated cropland to several thousand acres of ranch lands, water rights, and federal livestock permits. Aaron worked for Morrison-Knudsen, one of the largest pipeline construction firms in the US, as the head driller and blasting team that built a large 700 miles, 48 inches, natural gas pipeline thru the red-rock country in S. Utah.
Aaron comes from 4th generation western US ranching, water and natural resource interests. His father was a mining geologist that worked both internationally and throughout the inter-mountain West. Aaron traveled extensively with his father and learned the value of natural resources at an early age. The family eventually settled in Boulder, Colorado. His grandfather operated one of the largest livestock and farming operations in Utah, located at Green River, Utah. The family had a major impact developing the agricultural water supplies in the region. Aaron’s grandfather and great-grandfather were instrumental building a dam on the massive Green River. It is the only other dam below Flaming Gorge Reservoir on that river system. Aaron’s time exploring the Green River on horseback and on foot helped inform him of the unique ways water supplies affect agricultural, environmental and socio-economic interests and values in the West.
Aaron has served on various professional and philanthropic boards, including being a founding member of the Texas based Roundup for Autism. He played lacrosse at Colorado State University, is an avid fly fisherman and horseman, and an accomplished white-water kayaker and pilot. He has traveled extensively, from the Galapagos to Alaska, and Australia to Europe.
He and his family reside in Fort Collins, Colorado.
